DENTON - Terriell Bradley's game-high 23 points carried the North Texas women's basketball team to a wire-to-wire 63-46 win over Old Dominion on Thursday night at the Super Pit. The Mean Green made a season-high 10 three-pointers in the game.

"I tried to be as aggressive as possible, and when they were in the zone, I tried to be relaxed when I was shooting the ball," Bradley said.

Jada Poland posted a team-high five rebounds off the bench, and Brittany Smith added eight points and a team-best five assists.

"Against the zone, you want the zone to move, so ball movement is important," Smith said. "So I just tried to attack the zone and kick it out to the shooters."

Coming off a 29.6 percent shooting percentage against Rice's zone defense, attacking the zone was a point of emphasis in practice this week. Against the Monarchs' zone, the Mean Green finished 38.3 percent from the field.

"It got us thinking about some things," North Texas head coach Jalie Mitchell said. "We talked about movement and penetrating the zone. It created some open looks for us and because we went over it all week, I think we were more comfortable with it."

Micayla Buckner scored six of the team's first eight points, capitalizing on a pair of offensive rebounds. North Texas (10-5, 1-2 C-USA) tallied four offensive rebounds and scored seven second-chance points in the first quarter, jumping out to a 12-7 lead.

"We've been talking about post presence with her," Mitchell said. "Getting the ball inside and making a move to score or getting it off the glass. She was determined from the jump to let them know who she was. We need that from her."

The Mean Green offense pulled away in the second quarter as Smith, Bradley and Lauren Holmes combined for four three-pointers to give North Texas a 30-14 advantage.

"We were just really relaxed and we worked on shooting a lot this week," Bradley said.

After ODU's MaKayla Timmons singlehandedly orchestrated a 7-0 run to cut the lead to nine, Grace Goodhart hit another shot from beyond the arc to go ahead 33-21 and give the Mean Green seven first-half three-pointers. A three-point play for the Monarchs trimmed the margin back to single-digits as the Mean Green went into halftime with a 33-24 lead.

Bradley accounted for 13 of North Texas' first 15 points in the third quarter, including three-pointers on back-to-back possessions and five free throws in as many attempts.

"We wanted to come out intense and push the pace on offense," Bradley said.
